The patient is considered the weak link in the treatment chain. During the distraction phase, the patient is asked to perform a certain number of daily distractions (2-4) at home by himself for 10-20 days in certain regimented directions. This frequently results in errors or omissions relating to both the numbers and directions of distractions. Existing devices do not provide any solution to this problem.
